Wind Ensemble Retreat Recap

The Wind Ensemble had a great Saturday working with section clinicians and our visiting conductor, Dan Judd.   It was a fantastic way to make some important strides in preparing our music for state qualifying festivals in March.  Thank you to Friends of Cleveland Bands for supplying the morning goodies for our clinicians and the pizza for our students.

Pep Band

The last pep band game of the regular season will be this Tuesday with call time at 6pm.  Green Band and anyone that needs to make up a missed game should attend.

More information regarding the playoffs will follow once the playoff brackets are decided.  There is a slight possibility that the girls will host their first round playoff game.

All that jazz…

What a week for Cleveland’s Jazz program!  Tuesday saw the Jazz Ensemble taking 1st Place at the PIL Jazz Festival with Cooper Headrick, Tai Friel and Tonantzin Ramirez each taking home Outstanding Soloist awards.

Saturday saw both the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab traveling to the West Salem Jazz Festival.  Despite the long distance and even longer day, Jazz Lab tied for 1st Place in their division and Jazz Ensemble took 1st Place in the Advanced division.

Congratulations!  Your persistence and determination over the past few months have certainly paid dividends.

Wind Ensemble Retreat

This Saturday (2/17) the Wind Ensemble will be working with a guest clinician (Michael Burch-Pesses from Pacific University).  The retreat will run from 9:30am-3pm, starting with sectionals and then moving to full rehearsals.  Lunch (pizza) will be provided.

PIL Jazz Contest

The Cleveland Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the PIL League Jazz Band Contest at Roosevelt HS on Tuesday, February 6.  This event was postponed twice, so we are glad to finally get a chance to perform at this State Qualifying event.

The public is welcome to come listen at no charge.  Cleveland HS performs at 10am.
