The Play-a-thon is THIS FRIDAY, October 15, and the donations are streaming in. Please spread the word—via Facebook, Instagram, email, word of mouth, carrier pigeon, whatever works best for you. Let’s make this our most successful fundraiser yet!

And remember to include the name of the student on behalf of whom the contribution is made. Students who solicit the most donations will win valuable prizes! Contributions are tax-deductible. Please visit Playathon GoFundMe

Attached is the schedule again with a short explanation of the evening.

Play-a-thon Site is Live!

At 4:00 pm on October 15, 2021, one hundred and forty-plus Cleveland High School students will be participating in the seventh annual CHS Bands Play-a-thon.

The performances will run from 4:00pm until 9:30pm. Here is the schedule with a short explanation of the evening.  Students are aware of which band they have been assigned to, and are expected to be at school starting at 4:00pm. Many students will just stay after school is over. They will be fed pizza for our dinner break (Thank you Friends of Cleveland Bands).

This event is our fall concert & our annual fundraiser. We have raised as much as $34,000 with this single event. We have a goal of $20,000 this year. Take the time to read through the explanation of how funds are used on the GoFundMe page.

Please direct friends and family to the CHS Play-a-thon GoFundMe page, where they will be inspired by the amazing video from Funnelbox that outlines what goes on in the band room and why it is so important. Just make sure to remind them to include the name of the student on behalf of whom they are donating.

It has been a great start to the year!! We are thrilled to be able to play together again, and look forward to presenting some music via a live-stream in 11 days. The live stream link will be shared as we approach our performance date. It will also be included on the GoFundMe page.

Thank you for your support!

Auditions Due Friday, 10/1 and Friday, 10/8

We are nearing the audition deadlines for All-State and WIBC.

ALL-STATE: Friday, October 1

Students should be done recording by the end of this week for All-State.

  • A form is available on CANVAS for students to complete and upload their recordings.
  • Mr. Riler will register all of the students of All-State who complete this form and upload all of their recordings.

Mr. Riler’s deadline is Monday, Oct 4th, so he will need time to register all entries (almost 25 students have indicated that they plan to audition!) The audition fee for All-State will be paid by Friends of Cleveland Band!

WIBC: Friday, October 8

Students will register for WIBC at the  below link.

  • Students will upload their recordings on this registration site.
  • When they get to final part of the registration form, DO NOT PAY THE FEE.
  • Mr. Riler will be able to pay the fee from the director’s side of the WIBC site.

The fee is being paid by our Friends of Cleveland Band parent group!

Wind Symphony & Jazz Ensemble Concert Attire

A document was sent home with the Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble students. Here is a link to the document.

It is important for those that have already purchased attire in the past to be sure that everything still fits. We are still waiting for the representative from Mr Formal to set up a time (or times) to come to Cleveland to measure everyone.

Families can easily pay online via SchoolPay. If you are only needing certain items, you can wait until Mr. Riler can get a price list for individual items (ties, shirt, shoes, etc) before making a payment.
