We have 150 uniforms to be washed before the end of the school year. Can you help? We are looking for 15 parents to take 10 uniforms each for machine washing. (Washing instructions and tips will be provided.)

Mr. Riler will have them available for pick up June 3-5 and they need to be returned to the band room by June 14th @ 3:00 pm. If you can help, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Jennifer Means at jennmeans@gmail.com

On Tuesday, June 4 all 2019–20 Wind Symphony members will be expected to perform at the Commencement at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. Musicians meet in the band room at 5:30pm.

6:45pm Bus departs from Franklin Ave
8:00pm Commencement Begins
9:45pm Commencement Concludes
10:15pm Bus arrives at CHS

We will be performing the following music:

Pomp & Circumstance – Student Entrance
Star Spangled Banner
Fight Song
Walking On Sunshine – Conclusion

Please join us to celebrate a terrific year of music! We will hear selections from all our large ensembles, including Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Band, with special recognition for our graduating seniors throughout the evening. Refreshments provided after the concert.

Call time for musicians is 6:30pm. The concert takes place from 7:00-9:00pm. All bands are performing.

Once again the Cleveland HS Marching Band will participate (and compete) in the annual Starlight Parade. This year’s event will take place June 1. This is an amazing experience for students and families alike. But it takes a lot of work. We are looking for adult volunteers to help out in the following ways:

– Getting the kids ready with uniforms and equipment
– Accompanying the band along the parade route with water and other necessities to keep the kids going
– Photographing/recording video of the event

Friday is our student musicians’ turn to celebrate their hard work and their amazing progress as we close out the school year. All current band members are invited to a Band Celebration Pizza Party on Friday, May 24, 4-6:30pm at Pietro’s Pizza, 10300 Main Street in Milwaukie. Pietro’s is a 10 minute walk from Milwaukie/Main St MAX Station.

Friends of Cleveland Bands will provide pizza, drinks, and dessert. Our kids won’t want to miss this event, when Mr. Riler hands out the more humorous awards.

We are looking for an army of volunteers to help keep our band program running smoothly in a variety of ways. Please check out our 2019-20 Volunteer Sign-Up page for information about all the opportunities for the coming school year, with events taking place as early as this summer and throughout the school year—from fundraising to transportation, car washing to event setup/cleanup and so much more. There’s something for everyone!

We ask that every parent/guardian contribute their time and energy by signing up for at least one volunteer spot. But please feel free to sign up for more than one if you’re able to. It takes a village to keep a band program running!

Please note that auditions for next year’s jazz ensemble will be held on the following dates. The LIVE auditions take place April 16 and April 22 at 8:00 am in the band room. The recorded portion is due no later than 10:00 pm April 22.
