Marching Shoes
It is required that every student have a pair of shoes that are entirely black.

No other colors can be on the shoe at all, including the trim, laces, soles, etc.

I would recommend a comfortable pair of shoes.  I know we found nice Nike shoes that were completely black when we shopped for our kids.  I do feel that shopping locally is the best plan, because the shoes can be tried on for fit.

There is also a marching shoe that you can purchase through THIS WEBSITE. (You will want to choose STYLE 407 BLACK)

We do have some shoes in our inventory that are used, but still in decent shape to loan to students.  It would be best to have something in hand before Memorial Day weekend, if possible.

It was a privilege to witness the amazing performances that each of our soloists and ensembles performed. The talent and dedication on display was truly inspiring.

Concert Band and Symphonic Band had outstanding performances at Lincoln HS this last week.

The Concert Band was rated on the same scale that the Symphonic Band was rated with.  (There is an easier scale, but I asked that they be rated on the harder one).  They received scores that were just below what is considered Superior on that harder scale!  Would have easily been superior on their scale.  I am very proud of the hard work and growth this ensemble has displayed!  They put one of their pieces together in 4 rehearsals.

The Symphonic Band received Superior scores from both adjudicators and were challenged in the clinic to be even more musical and more detailed.

The Wind Ensemble had the privilege to work with an amazing music educator this past weekend (4/15). They received outstanding instruction and tools to use for our pieces moving forward as we prepare to perform at the State Band Championships.

Join us Friday, April 21st at 7pm in the CHS Auditorium for performances from our Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab and at least one additional combo.  Admission is free.  Make sure to stick around after the concert for delicious treats.

We need volunteers to help make sure all of our musicians are prepared for the Starlight Parade.  No sewing experience necessary, a lead volunteer will guide the process each day.

We have one more important extra rehearsal this month:

• Saturday, April 15 from 9am – 3:30pm with Dennis Llinas from University of Oregon.

These early rehearsals are very important, because as we get closer to May we lose IB students to testing.
Therefore, these two rehearsals are EXTREMELY important.

Our Concert and Symphonic Bands will be performing at Lincoln HS on April 19 for the PIL JV Band Festival.

Please be sure your young musician has all of their appropriate concert attire. Everything should be black, including the shoes.  Please avoid jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, tennis shoes and white socks.  The attire for concerts is considered formal.
