Congratulations to our Jazz Ensemble for placing 2nd! Their performance qualifies Cleveland HS to submit a recording for the State Jazz Band Championships, as they received qualifying scores from all three judges.

Chamber Music Starts up this week, after the concert. This is one of the most important activities we do all year to help students improve and become more independent musicians.

Our Winter Concert will feature the much anticipated return of our Bake Sale! We need lots of volunteers to donate delicious goodies, and we need several to help serve on the front lines. The sale will take place BEFORE and AFTER the concert, so don’t worry, you won’t have to miss out on anything!

As students begin to develop into musicians at the high school level, an important part of their training can be private instruction. Mr. Riler recommends private instruction for any student who has a desire to improve and perform on their instrument. 

Private instruction can be leveraged for students in any situation.

• It can be those who feel that they need help to get caught up
• It can be for those that need additional work to challenge them and prepare them to be able to be leaders in the high school ensemble
• It can be to develop skills like improvisation, mastering solo literature, etc
• It can be to develop skills to prepare for the next level as a music major or minor

If you are interested in starting lessons for your student musicians but have questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Riler via email. Teachers with an asterisks by their name are those that Mr. Riler would highly recommend based on what he has witnessed, or in some cases, because of testimonials from other colleagues.

Our Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  Admission is FREE.  Our Bake Sale will also be returning for this concert.

• Some chamber groups may be performing in the halls prior to the concert, as well.

For those who participated in the Pie Fundraiser, here are the pertinent details for pick-up:

When:   Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, from 3:30–5:30 p.m.
Where:  Cleveland High School Cafeteria

The pies will be frozen, so prompt pick-up is very important. If possible, please designate one family to pick up on behalf of multiple families.
