Sign up for a morning or afternoon shift for this Friday’s State Chamber Music Contest at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham. Cleveland Band Director Gary Riler is a key organizer for this statewide event and our parent volunteers are essential to ensuring the event runs smoothly.

Our Color Guard students will begin rehearsing for the Starlight Parade on Thursday, May 5th with their newly hired coach Tracy Buldoc. Please refer to the band calendar for times as it might fluctuate a little bit.

The Jazz Lab will perform at the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival. They will play at 9:10 am on Saturday, May 7th in the 5A division, which performs in the student union.

We had two ensembles playing at the Portland Art Museum on Sunday, April 24th at 1:00 pm as part of HeArt of Portland—an annual showcase of the arts programs from across PPS. Our Saxophone Quartet & Woodwind Quintet from Wind Symphony (pictured above). Bravo!

Attention parents of musicians in Concert and Symphonic bands! Mr. Riler still needs two more volunteers to chaperone the Second Band Festival at West Linn High School. The bands will attend this all-day event Thursday, April 21st. Please sign up to volunteer if you’re able to and watch our musicians perform!

Please join us for a fun night of jazz this Tuesday, starting at 7:00 pm at the CHS auditorium! Jazz Lab and Jazz Ensemble will perform. Special guest Paul Mazzio will solo with both groups and perform with his quartet to finish the evening.

The Cleveland HS Concert & Symphonic Bands will be performing at the West Linn Second Band Festival on Thursday, April 21st. This event will be at West Linn HS all day and into the early afternoon.

At this event, the groups will listen to other “second” bands perform, receive adjudication scores and enjoy a clinic with one of the music educators on the panel of judges. View the itinerary for the day.
