From fundraising to transportation to event setup and cleanup, volunteers are critical to the success of Cleveland High School Bands. Friends of Cleveland Bands have a couple of of positions open, let us know if you are interested by filling out our volunteer form, or by emailing Heather Randol at hmsrandol@hotmail.com.
The Mini Camp starts today and ends on Wednesday, August 25, from 9:30am – 11:30am.
What to bring:
Monday & Tuesday are 9th and 10th grade students.
Wednesday is for EVERYONE in Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble.
**Guitar, Piano and Bass players from Jazz groups will not need to attend these mini camps, as we will be focusing on wind and percussion instruments.**
The annual family potluck is back this year! The event is on Thursday, August 26, 6:00pm–8:00pm, please see details in the below link.
ATTACHED IS AN IMPORTANT FLYER EXPLAINING THE POTLUCK, AND WHAT TO BRING.
Bring chairs and/or a blanket to have a comfortable place to sit and eat. To help curb waste, bringing your own utensils is also encouraged.
This is also an opportunity to hear about our AMAZING Friends of Cleveland Band parent group that is a HUGE support to our band program at Cleveland High School.
We are looking forward to meeting everyone this coming week. We know that some are not able to attend these events, but it is always a great opportunity to meet in a more casual and comfortable environment before school begins. We know we will meet all of you eventually.
A big thank you to Burgerville who generously donated the use of their spigot & water for the car wash.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped or had their cars wash. Thanks also to Heather Randol for coordinating the event.
Due to the heat and haze, we rescheduled the event to Saturday the 21st (weather permitting).
Thank you everyone that volunteered their time and supplies. If for some reason this date change creates a conflict for you here is a link to make any changes. Already signed up? You can change your sign up.
If you were unavailable for August 14, but can make it on August 21, please sign up here.
This event is a great opportunity for kids to meet each other and work together, so we want to give ourselves one more chance to make it work. We will build in some time during the mini-camp for everyone to have a chance to meet each other and begin learning more about each other and how the program works.
Leadership meeting will be a goal setting meeting and prep time for the mini camps. We will meet in the band room, please remember to wear a mask indoors.
Percussion mini camp will be from 1:00 pm–3:00 pm on Thursday, August 19th. We will start indoors, and move outdoors with the drumline equipment. Bring a mask for the indoor portion of the camp.
After seeing an updated forecast for Saturday that puts the temperature near 100 degrees, I feel it is best to re-schedule our car wash due to extreme weather conditions. We will try next Saturday (August 21) WEATHER-PERMITTING. Extended forecasts still show it being pretty hot, but we shall see.

I want to thank Heather Randol for organizing all of this, and Debbie Wager for helping get this info out to everyone on social media, even while on vacation!
Over the last 18 months we have certainly learned to be flexible and adapt. Here is another opportunity to do just that.
Stay Cool, and I look forward to seeing a lot of you Saturday, August 21.

Support Cleveland Bands, see your friends, and have a great time at the annual car wash on Saturday, August 14th from 11 am to 3 pm! Students and parents can sign up here to participate or bring supplies, or just stop by the Cleveland HS parking lot across from the school on 26th and pitch in.
Tell your friends and family to come get their cars washed by Cleveland Band musicians for a $5 suggested donation, or whatever they would like to contribute.
See you on August 14th!
Your Friends of Cleveland Bands
