Play-a-thon Fundraising Concert

Save the date! Play-a-thon Fundraising Concert will be Friday, May 21 from 6:00 pm–9:00 pm. It will have pops music from our large groups, pep band music, solo presentation from our solo & ensemble participants, alumni testimonials and more!

Swag for Newest Band Members

We are planning on getting sizes from our new band members (current freshman and others that were new to the program this last fall). New band members usually get a “swag bag” as part of their entry into the program. For now we will work toward getting them their band t-shirt, and possibly another special surprise too.

After School “Sectionals”

We will be starting a schedule of “sectionals” after school for groups of 10 at a time after Spring Break. We will meet outside, 6 ft. apart. The district is working on purchasing the specialized masks and bell covers. This will be in addition to whatever Hybrid will look like.

Wind Symphony Auditions Recap

Wind Symphony auditions are completed. Mr. Riler was so impressed with the quality of every audition!! Feedback went to every student via an email.
The 2021-22 Cleveland Wind Symphony List is going to be available for students to see on Monday, March 8 in the announcement section of their Band Canvas Page. There were a total of 36 students that auditioned. An amazing number considering the circumstances. BRAVO to you all!

Solo & Ensemble Submissions and Jazz Ensemble Auditions

Solo & Ensemble participants have been sent links for their video submissions. Those are due by March 13. All the best to each of the student.

Jazz Ensemble auditions are coming due on March 19. There is a need in every section, so students should not be shy about auditioning.
The program could also use more brass players (specifically trombones) in the Jazz Lab. Students are encouraged to talk amongst themselves. If interested, let Mr. Riler know and he can assist in making any adjustments to the forecasting forms.

Disney Refund Update

Mr. Riler received communications from EDT. The update they received was that they were still on target to refund the next priority group (group #2) in March. It was communicated that refund checks for Group #2 were expected to be sent out near the end of March. Regarding Group #3, the hope was to be in a position to process that final round of refund checks a couple months afterwards (May?) or once within EDT’s capability. As soon as we have more news on that we’ll let you know.
