Quarter 3 is almost in the books. Students that did not record in time for the concert are still required to record to earn credit for the assignment (consider it the make-up assignment). Check Canvas to make sure things are caught up.

Students will be able to play their instruments for Hybrid lessons in the band room. Mr. Riler will be passing on the latest guidance via an email, so everyone knows what to expect in that regard. Any specialized PPE that is necessary for playing in the band room will be purchased by the district. Families will not need to purchase any specialized PPE for their student musician, if that student is participating in Hybrid learning.

Sectionals after school will be used specifically to build program awareness. They will be instrument specific across the entire program (9-12 grade), so students can meet each other and learn some of the pep band songs together.

Students who do participate in sectionals, will need to be registered with this database for check-ins – FamilyID: https://www.familyid.com/programs/2020-21-all-sports-registration. If a student already participates in sports at Cleveland, they are already taken cared of, as they have already been registered.

Jazz Ensemble audition results will be made available by April 2nd.

Solo & Ensemble results will be available by April 7th.

We will be starting to collect our seniors info and pictures soon to create the senior slide show. Start collecting them and be ready to send them to us. Stay tuned for details.

Save the date! Play-a-thon Fundraising Concert will be Friday, May 21 from 6:00 pm–9:00 pm. It will have pops music from our large groups, pep band music, solo presentation from our solo & ensemble participants, alumni testimonials and more!

The second round of refund checks were mailed on Saturday before Spring Break. We don’t have a definite timeline for the third (and final) refund group yet, but they will be in touch as soon as they have an update.

We are planning on getting sizes from our new band members (current freshman and others that were new to the program this last fall). New band members usually get a “swag bag” as part of their entry into the program. For now we will work toward getting them their band t-shirt, and possibly another special surprise too.

We will be starting a schedule of “sectionals” after school for groups of 10 at a time after Spring Break. We will meet outside, 6 ft. apart. The district is working on purchasing the specialized masks and bell covers. This will be in addition to whatever Hybrid will look like.

Wind Symphony auditions are completed. Mr. Riler was so impressed with the quality of every audition!! Feedback went to every student via an email.
The 2021-22 Cleveland Wind Symphony List is going to be available for students to see on Monday, March 8 in the announcement section of their Band Canvas Page. There were a total of 36 students that auditioned. An amazing number considering the circumstances. BRAVO to you all!
