The Cleveland Jazz Ensemble placed 3rd at the West Salem Jazz Festival in the 6A division. Battleground (Washington) took 1st and Grant HS took 2nd. We had 6 student receive outstanding soloist awards:
- Auden Koeneke – Alto & Soprano Sax
- Liem Friel – Trombone
- Maia Connelly – Trumpet
- Jesse Broderick – Drums
- Drew Sykes – Guitar
- Jason Tran – Piano
The scores the band received tonight qualified them for the State Jazz Championships Tape Pool. Cleveland HS was well represented today. Many directors came to me to express how impressed they were with our performance.
