All City Honor Band

Are your students interested in participating in the PPS All-city Honor Band? It is occurring on April 8th and 9th. Location is still being worked out, but it will be in Portland. Erik Kar Jun Leung (from OSU) will be the conductor.

If your student would like to be considered for this honor, they need to complete the form by Tuesday, March 1. HERE IS THE FORM

Basketball Playoffs Pep Band

We need to make sure home court advantage is secured by having a loud and crazy pep band at the first (and hopefully) more playoff game.

THIS FORM will help Mr. Riler make decisions about the pep band and who might be traveling in later rounds. All students, should complete the form. Thank you & GO WARRIORS!!

Friends of Cleveland Bands Meeting / We Need You!

Please attend the FOCB meeting TONIGHT at 6:30pm virtually at this link meet.google.com/eii-regn-ogc. A number of key positions in the FOCB organization will be opening up next year as seniors move on and take their parents with them.

Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Heather Randol at hmsrandol@gmail.com for information about specific openings. Or fill out the volunteer form at https://www.clevelandbandspdx.com/volunteer/.

We urge parents and guardians whose students are remaining (especially freshmen and sophomores) to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to help steer the program to continued success. It takes a community to build a community!

Thank you for your support.

Forecasting

Forecasting will occur this week, and guidance around how to forecast for auditioned groups & multiple groups was sent earlier today. You may have specific questions that go beyond this information, so please feel free to email Mr. Riler.

Music classes should ALWAYS be placed at the beginning of the elective choice section of your forecasting forms to avoid any confusion. The computer system that translates these forms into student schedules is not the brightest bulb in the box.

Starlight Parade

Cleveland HS has once again been invited to march in the Starlight Parade this June!  We look forward to representing Cleveland HS, our community and Portland Public Schools at this well attended & televised event.

The parade will be Saturday, June 4th. It is best for families to block out noon to midnight for this event.

Semester Finals Announcement from Mr. Riler

Jazz Night was the final for Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab.

All other classes are performing all or part of their chamber music pieces in a recital format during class.

Wind Symphony will have an evening rehearsal this Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm. Erik Leung from OSU will be coming to work with us.

Forecasting for next year will be starting the following week. I am hopeful to see all of our 9th–11th grade musicians continue on next year. The progress we have made is notable in all of the bands. We are closing the gap that our online year created, and I am excited to see them continue to do so next year.  Please email me with ANY questions you might have regarding band next year.  I will be sharing some general forecasting guidance next on or before next Monday.
