The Future Warrior Concert is this Thursday, January 20 @ 7:00 pm in the Cleveland HS Auditorium. This concert will involve our Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble.  We also look forward to hosting the Hosford and Sellwood Advanced Bands.

Jazz Night Concert will now be on Friday, January 21 @ 7:00 pm in the Cleveland HS Auditorium. This concert will involve our Jazz Lab and Jazz Ensemble.  

By re-scheduling the Jazz Night Concert on Friday, the Pep Band that was scheduled on Friday, January 21 is cancelled.

Our concerts will be welcoming a live audience.  The rows will be taped off so that audience members can use every other row.  Families will be encouraged to sit on the ends of the rows, leaving space in the middle.  These two protocols will assist us in maintaining spacing.  We do not expect to even come close to exceeding the 50% capacity limit put forth by the district, as the auditorium is enormous.

MASKS AND PROOF OF VACCINATION
Please also expect to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (within three days of the event) to gain entrance into the building.  Masking will also be required of all that are present inside the building.

Band is online, and it is synchronous for the beginning of each class.

Students will be engaged and performing with reference recordings in some cases.

They will also be working with their chamber groups using breakout rooms, after some suggestions on how to make that work online.

With everything in a state of flux, band assessments will be adjusted as needed. Students need not worry. This will be discussed during the online classes in the upcoming week to provide direction and a specific plan that everyone can follow.

As mentioned, the Friends of Cleveland Bands group is looking to fill several positions for the next school year as some of our members are graduating. Future Warrior Concert is next Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Performances by: Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, as well as Sellwood and Hosford advanced bands.

I am so thankful to be the band director at Cleveland HS. It really has been a privilege to work with all of the band students at CHS. I am looking forward to some time off, but will be excited to get back it come January!

For those who participated in the Pie Fundraiser, here are the pertinent details for pick-up:

When:   Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Where:  Choi/Warmflash Residence,  (see map below)

The pies will be frozen, so prompt pick-up is very important. If possible, please designate one family to pick up on behalf of multiple families.
