Urgent – Friends of Cleveland Bands Needs You!

Desperately seeking a Playathon Coordinator for next fall! We have a Fundraising Coordinator and Playathon Live Stream Operator lined up but need this 3rd important piece to this puzzle! (We’ve also got an experienced Hospitality crew who will be attending the event and available for support.)

The Playathon Coordinator position is ideally a 2 year commitment. It involves event flow and volunteer coordination for the night of the Playathon with some minimal prep time before the event. For detailed descriptions of open the positions we are looking to fill please see the attached list. For more information please contact volunteer coordinator Jennifer Means at jennmeans@gmail.com.

Wind Symphony Qualifies for the State Championships

With a strong performance at the Oregon State University HS Band Festival, the band earned three qualifying scores from the judges and received an excellent clinic from retired band director, Dave Becker. This allows Mr. Riler to send in this recording for consideration for State, if he chooses. The PIL League Contest (date TBA) will be another opportunity to improve our performance, and possibly gain an automatic bid to the State Championships.

Festival Concert: Dessert Still Needed

We still need a lot more baked goods for the Festival Concert Bake Sale this Wednesday. Please check out our sign-up page or contact Heidi Guite directly at nguite@aol.com to see how you can help. When it comes to baked treats, too much is never enough!

The bake sale supports our students by funding everyday necessities such as sheet music, instrument repairs, visiting clinicians, and so much more!

More importantly, it’s become a fun community event that band families look forward to. With current concerns about the Coronavirus the FOCB Board discussed the risks and benefits of this bake sale. We know that the risks are still low and trust our families will take the extra safety measures needed during any flu season (hand washing/sanitizer, etc.) and participate at whatever level they are comfortable with. For our part, we will make sure our volunteers have gloves and tongs to serve you and will also provide pastry tissue papers for self service.

You can sign up to bring goodies and to help set up, work the tables during intermission, and help clean up afterwards here. (Please note that Sign Up Genius does not require an account. Just enter your email address, choose your contribution, and SignUp.com will send you an automated confirmation and reminders.)
